Call for Tenure Track Faculty Position in Computational/Theoretical Neuroscience
The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine jointly with the Sagol School of Neuroscience at the Tel Aviv University (Israel) invites exceptional researchers in the field of Computational/Theoretical Neuroscience to apply for a tenure track faculty position at the level of Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. The full-time position offered is available beginning July 1 or October 1, 2023.
Candidates with a strong background in all areas of Computational/Theoretical Neuroscience are encouraged to apply. Specifically, we search for applicants who are working on theoretical modeling and/or computational analysis methods of brain functions at the cellular, network, systems, or cognitive levels. The successful applicant is expected to develop an externally funded innovative research program and participate in teaching activities. Applications are recommended following A post-doctoral research experience outside of Israel.
Successful candidates will benefit from collaborations with the rapidly expanding Neuroscience community at the Tel Aviv University and be able to mentor excellent graduate students enrolled in various programs. The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is characterized by a team of dynamic and diverse members – a research ecosystem that encourages collaborations and team science. The Sagol School of Neuroscience is the first Neuroscience School in Israel, with over 400 undergraduate students and more than 100 grad students, including international post-docs.
In addition to its educational mission, the Sagol School of Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary center that unites researchers from diverse fields that intersect with neuroscience, including neurobiologists, zoologists, psychologists, linguists, biomedical engineers, and computer scientists. The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology and the Sagol School of Neuroscience has world-class research in molecular, cellular, systems, behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, with over 50 labs studying various aspects of brain function in health and disease. The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology and the Sagol School of Neuroscience have strong ties with other universities in Israel and worldwide, and with medical centers in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
Job requirements:
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree.
Postdoctoral training is required.
Successful candidates are expected to carry out independent competitive programs in theoretical or computational research, combined with high level teaching in graduate and undergraduate programs of neuroscience and medical schools.
