Biography

Prof. Yariv Gerber obtained his Bachelor's degree (cum laude) in Physical Education and Sport Sciences from Wingate College in 1997 and subsequently earned his Ph.D. (direct track) in Epidemiology at Tel Aviv University in 2003. Following completion of his Ph.D., he joined the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota, for postdoctoral training in cardiovascular disease epidemiology. In 2006, he returned to Tel Aviv University and joined the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine as a senior faculty member. He was promoted to Full Professor in 2016. He also holds the rank of Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.

During his tenure, the School of Public Health was consistently ranked first among Israeli universities and achieved its highest international standing to date, according to the Shanghai Ranking.

Over the past decade, Prof. Gerber has been affiliated with several prominent research groups and collaborations, including:

  • Israel Study Group on First Acute Myocardial Infarction

  • Israeli Ischemic Heart Disease (IIHD) project

  • Acute Coronary Syndrome Israeli Survey (ACSIS)
