פרופ' דומניקו אגוסטיני

דומניקו אגוסטיני (PhDs EPHE/Paris and Sapienza University/Rome) הוא פרופסור חבר של היסטוריה עתיקה, והוא מתמחה בהיסטוריה, דת, ספרות ולשונות פרה-אסלמיות באיראן (אכמנית, פרתית וססאנית) ובמפגש שלהן עם המסורות היהודית והים-תיכונית בעת העתיקה ובשלהי העתיקה. הקריירה שלו התפתחה בשלוש מדינות: איטליה, צרפת וישראל. הוא עבד כעמית הוראה באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים (2010-2015) וכמרצה אורח באוניברסיטת לה-ספיינצה ברומא (2013). הוא היה עמית מחקר במכון הצרפתי למחקר באיראן (2005) ובאקדמיה די-לינצ'אי (accademia dei Lincei) ברומא (2010-2011). הוא זכה בפרס Pirasteh בלימודי איראן באקדמיה לשפות ולאמנות יפה (Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres), פריז (2008) ובמלגת פולונסקי לחוקרים מצטיינים (2013-2017). הוא היה עמית מחקר בפורום לחוקרים צעירים של דתות אברהמיות בראשות גיא סטרומזה, פורום שמומן על ידי האקדמיה הישראלית למדעים (2013-2015).

במוקד מחקרי עומדות היסטוריה, דת, מחשבה ופילוסופיה איראנית בעת העתיקה ובעת העתיקה המאוחרת. אני מתעניין בהיסטוריה של הזורואסטריזם, בדגש של הולדתה והתפתחותה של המחשבה האפוקליפטית והאסכטולוגית, וביחסיה הבין-תרבותיים עם המסורת היהודית והנוצרית.  בהקשר זה, עסקתי בסינקרטיזם היהודי-איראני, בהתפתחותו ובהשפעתו על ההיסטוריה של הרעיונות בעת העתיקה המאוחרת.
בשנים האחרונות אני מתמקד גם ביחסים התרבותיים בין איראן לבין העולם הים-תיכוני, ובפרט במעבר של הפילוסופיה, המדע והרפואה היוונים מביזנטיון לאיראן הססאנית. בימים אלו אני חוקר את היווצרות הקוסמוגרפיה של העולם הבא באיראן, תוך השוואה עם מסורות מאזור הים-התיכון והמזרח הקרוב. בנוסף על כך, אני חוקר את היחסים העשירים וההשפעות ההדדיות בין איראן הסססאנית לבין רומא/ ביזנטיון בהקשר של מלוכה, דיפלומטיה, השכלה, דת ותעמולה.
ספרי החדש בוחן את הספרות החכמה הדידקטית הזורואסטרית (andarz) תוך השוואה למסורות יהודיות, הודיות, נוצריות ואסלאמיות דומות.
 

The focus of my research is Iranian history, religion, thought, and philology in antiquity and Late Antiquity. I am interested in the history of Zoroastrianism, with an emphasis on the birth and development of apocalyptic and eschatological thought, and on its cross-cultural relationships with Jewish and Christian traditions. On this point, I have dealt with the concept of Jewish-Iranian syncretism and its development in and impact on the history of ideas in Late Antiquity.
In recent years, I have also focused my attention on cultural relations between Iran and the Mediterranean world, in particular on the transmission of Greek philosophy, science, and medicine from Byzantium to Sasanian Iran. I am currently working on the formation of otherworldly cosmography in Iran in comparison with Mediterranean and Near Eastern traditions.
Furthermore, I am investigating the privileged relations and mutual influences between Sasanian Iran and Rome/Byzantium regarding kingship, diplomacy, literacy, religion, and propaganda.
My new book project examines Zoroastrian didactic and wisdom literature (andarz) in the framework of comparative studies with similar Jewish, Indian, Christian, and Islamic traditions.
