ד"ר ערן בן אליא

מתמחה בגיאוגרפיה התנהגותית וגיאוגרפיה של מרחבים וירטואליים; מודלים של בחירה וקבלת החלטות; השפעת טכנולוגיות תקשורת ומידע על התנהגות אנושית, הקשורות בפעילויות, חלוקת זמן, ניידות, נגישות, ונסיעות; שיטות מחקר כמותיות, סטטיסטיקה ואקונומטריקה. 

ערן הצטרף לחוג כחוקר בכיר ומרצה במסגרת תכנית לאומית להשבת מדענים מצטיינים חוזרים. ערן סיים בהצטיינות יתרה תואר ראשון בכלכלה ובמדעי המדינה מאוניברסיטת ת"א, תואר שני בהצטיינות מהטכניון בתכנון ערים ואזורים ותואר ד"ר מהטכניון במדעי התחבורה. לאחר סיום הדוקטורט יצא לפוסט דוק באוניברסיטת אוטרכט בהולנד ושימש שלוש שנים כעמית מחקר בכיר באוניברסיטת מערב אנגליה בבריסטול.  ערן עוסק בהבנה ומידול החלטות ותהליכי בחירה אנושית, הקשורות בהתנהגות במרחבים פיזיים ואל-פיזיים, כולל ההשפעה של טכנולוגיות מידע ותקשורת וטכנולוגיות מתעוררות אחרות על פעילויות, חלוקת זמן, ניידות, נגישות ונסיעות. לערן ניסיון פרקטי רב בתחום של הערכה כלכלית ומודלים של ביקוש לתחבורה.

Eran joined the department as a Senior Researcher and Lecturer as part of Israel’s national returning scientists’ initiative. Eran obtained his BA from Tel-Aviv University in Economics and Political Science (Magna Cum Laude) and M.Sc in Urban and Regional Planning (Cum Laude) from the Technion. Eran received his PhD from the Technion in Transportation Sciences. Following his graduation, Eran worked as a postdoc at Utrecht University in the Netherlands and was appointed as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of the West of England Bristol. Eran’s research interests lie in understanding and modelling human decisions and choice processes related to behaviours in physical and virtual spaces including the impacts of ICT and other emerging technologies on activities, time use, mobility, accessibility and travel.  Eran has extensive practical experience with economic assessment and travel demand models.
