דר' לנה ליפסקיה-וליקובסקי מתמקדת בחקר השתתפות ומעורבות בעיסוקים משמעותיים של אנשים עם אבחנות פסיכיאטריות וזיהוי גורמים שמשפיעים עליהם, ברמת אדם, עיסוק וסביב. לצורך כך היא עושה שימוש במגוון כלים ואמצעים, כגון שאלונים, אבחונים ביצועיים, טכניקות של ניהול זמן באמצעות יומן עיסוקי אישי ואמצעים טכנולוגיים מתקדמים, כמו מערכת EEG ניידת ו-Eye tracking. כמו כן, היא מובילה חקר של יעילות ההתערבות של ריפוי בעיסוק בתחום בריאות הנפש אשר כולל פיתוח תכניות התערבות ייחודיות של ריפוי בעיסוק כגון "Occupational Connection" ותרגום והתאמה לארץ תכניות התערבות קיימות, כמו "Action Over Inertia" . היא עורכת תרגום, התאמה לישראל וביסוס תוקף לכלי אבחון הערכה אשר יכולים לקדם את העשייה המקצועית בריפוי בעיסוק, כגון “Profiles of Occupational Engagement in People with Serious Mental Illness” ; "Performance Assessment of Self Care Skills" ; ו- "UCSD Performance-Based Skills Assessment". בנוסף, היא חוקרת דרכים לקידום פרקטיקה מקדמת החלמה ורווחה אישית בתחום בריאות הנפש, כגון יישום מודל החלמה בבתי חולים פסיכיאטריים ודרכים ליעל תהליכי מעבר מאשפוז אל השתלבות מחודשת בקהילה.
