The Adrea and Victor Carter Symphony Orchestra

The Adrea and Victor Carter Symphony Orchestra was established with the generous donation of the Carter family, U.S.A. and aims at preparing all the students of the school for a career as professional orchestra players. The orchestra enables the orchestra instrument players an opportunity to become familiar

with the main orchestral repertoire, grants an opportunity  for young composer's original works and arrangements to be performed and enables young conductors their first steps in orchestral conducting. The orchestra also accompanies the school of music's vocal performing ensembles.

The Carter Symphony Orchestra has performed at the most prestigious concert venues in Israel such as: ICC International Convention Center Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv Museum of Arts, Israel Conservatory of Music, Noga Auditorium and others. Clairmont Auditorium at the Tel-Aviv University is the home venue for its successful concerts. In the last decade, the orchestra has been conducted under the baton of Prof. Ami Maayani, Prof. Noam Sheriff and Mr. Vag Papian. Currently, the orchestra is part of the orchestral training programme headed by Mr. Zeev Dorman.

Over recent years, the orchestra has performed symphonies by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Berlioz, Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, Sibelius and Prokofiev, “Mathis der Maler” by Hindemith, the "rites of spring" by Stravinsky, the Concerto for Orchestra by Bartok among other works. In 1998, the orchestra took part in a number of fully staged opera productions such as “Carmen” by Bizet and “Saul and David” by Carl Nielsen in its first production outside Scandinavia.
