תימות בהיסטוריוגרפיה של היסטוריה עולמית (אירופאית, מוסלמית וסינית) של המדע בתחילת העת-החדשה

II. תיאור הסמינר:

סמינר זה משמש כמבוא ביקורתי לתימות עכשוויות בהיסטוריוגרפיה של המדע בתחילת העת-החדשה. רשימת הקריאה מאורגנת כרונולוגית מהמהפכה הקופרניקאית עד לפיסיקה החדשה של אייזק ניוטון, תוך כדי טיפול בסוגיות מרכזיות מהבחנה בין דת למדע ועד לשאלות אנטרופולוגיות של אמון בין אנשי-מדע ואופני-עיצוב של פרסונה מדעית. אנו נעריך מחדש את ההבחנות הקונבנציונאליות בין פילוסופיה של הטבע האירופאית והלא-אירופאית תוך מבט היסטורי דרך הפריזמה של מושגים היסטוריוגרפיים של "פרקטיקה", "תאוריה", "ניסיון", "ניסוי", "אמון" ו"פטרונאג'". התמונה העולה מציגה את הפילוסופיה של הטבע כנטועה ביחסים בין-תרבותיים עד לכדי כך שיהיה קשה להמשיך להחזיק את ההבחנה המסורתית בין מדע לתרבות ובין מדע אירופאי למדע לא-אירופאי.
