![]() | Compared to the normal left submandibular gland, there is enlargement of the right submandibular gland due to the presence of an adenoid cystic carcinoma involving this salivary gland. Such carcinomas are slow growing, are not common, but do tend to invade and recur locally, as well as spread hematogenously. Thus, distant metastases are more likely than regional lymph node metastases. |
