This enhanced MRI scan in coronal view demonstrates a cystic mass with a brightly enhancing mural nodule. This is a cerebellar hemangioblastoma. Polycythemia is a paraneoplastic syndrome that can be due to these tumors. Polycythemia occurs in about 10% of patients with hemangioblastoma and is due to the production of erythropoietin by the tumor.
