Welcome to the gates of the new Alumni Club of the Faculty of Humanities.
I must confess that the idea of founding an “Alumni Club” is not originally ours – the Faculty of Engineering, Business Administration and Law preceded us. We heard about their experience and decided that we too will take this step.
The examination of the data, recently completed, revealed that over 20,000 men and women have studied in the Faculty of Humanities since its founding – whether towards the BA, MA or PhD. Aside from a few isolated examples, no systematic attempt was made to maintain regular contact with our many graduates.
In the academic year of 2004 we marked 50 years since the founding of the Faculty of Humanities, and this presented us with a good opportunity to organize ourselves as a group. Our objective was, and is today, to establish permanent channels of communication, to keep you abreast of what is happening, to make the various campus activities available to our graduates and to share with you the knowledge which has accumulated in the Faculty.
We hope that this organization will provide the Faculty with the support of the constantly expanding body of graduates. We find ourselves in a time of crisis in the area of higher education in Israel; the universities – including our own – are in need of protection, and the Faculty of Humanities, more than ever, is in need of the backing and support of men and women like yourselves, who recognize the importance of the teaching and research activities which take place within our walls.
Join us in founding our Humanities Alumni Association. With combined forces, we will create an arena for activities and meetings that will be enjoyable and beneficial for all of us.
With Kind Regards,
Prof. Shlomo Biderman
Dean
