Overview
Welcome to The Manna Center for Plant Biosciences at Tel
Aviv University. The Center aims to acquire basic knowledge that can be exploited
to improve the agronomic traits of major crops, while respecting biodiversity,
ecological balance and sustainable management of natural resources. The Manna
Plant Science Center was established through the generous support from an anonymous
donor.
The Manna Center for Plant Biosciences is housed within the Department
of Plant Sciences, on the SE wing of the 6th floor of the Cohen-Porter building,
and functions within the Faculty of
Life Sciences in a collaborative effort between the Department
of Plant Sciences, The University
Botanical Gardens, The
Institute for Cereal Crop Improvement , The
Constantiner Institute for Molecular Genetics, the Schwartz Kipp Institute
of Biotechnology, and The Porter
School for Environmental Studies. The Center is allied with other relevant
units at Tel Aviv University which deal with ecological, social, health, legal
and ethical issues arising from scientific research and new plant based technologies.
The Manna Center for Plant Biosciences works towards its aims through providing
a modern plant
growth and analysis infrastructure, organizing workshops
and conferences, providing graduate and post-doctoral research
fellowships and travel scholarships.
