The Confucius Institute at Tel Aviv University
The Confucius Institute at Tel Aviv University, established on 2007, is the product of the fruitful cooperation between Tel Aviv University and the Office of Chinese Language Council International in Beijing. The institute operates in the same ways of dozens of Confucius Institutes in leading universities all over the world. The director of The Confucius Institute at Tel Aviv University is Professor Meir Shahar.
These institutes serve to enhance the teaching and introducing the Chinese language and culture to the general public. In addition, the various Confucius Institutes serve to enhance the academic research of diverse aspects of Chinese culture and history. The Confucius Institute at Tel Aviv University works in close cooperation with the University's Department of East Asian Studies to introduce Chinese language and culture to the general public as well as to further develop Chinese Studies at Tel Aviv University.
