A large renal cell carcinoma is present in the left kidney, with some remaining renal parenchyma visible. This patient had a hemoglobin of 21.5 g/dL, indicating polycythemia from a paraneoplastic syndrome with production of an erythropoietin-like substance by the neoplasm.
