| This upper GI series with bright contrast material in a child reveals a focal area of obstruction in the duodenum. The contrast material outlines the stomach and in the distal duodenum beyond the obstruction. On ultrasound of a fetus in utero, instead of contrast there would be air to produce the characteristic "double bubble" sign of duodenal atresia. |
