This view from an upper GI series demonstrates prominent gastric rugal thickening to produce irregular large lucencies in the contrast material filling the stomach. This is Menetrier's disease, an uncommon condition of middle-aged adults in which there is gastric mucosal epithelial cell hyperplasia. This condition may lead to nausea, vomiting, and bleeding from erosions, as well as malabsorbtion from achlorhydria and protein loss through excessive mucus secretion.
