The radiograph above reveals a highly comminuted spiral fracture of the proximal tibia with downward displacement of the tibial plateau. This was the result of a high speed vehicular accident. In the view below, the fracture has been stabilized with open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). Staples close the incision.
