Case Introduction and Chief Complaint:

Your patient is a 24-year-old woman who comes to you because she has missed a menstrual period and thinks that she may be pregnant again. She states that the prior two pregnancies, at age 18 and 20, ended with fetal loss by 20 weeks gestation. She has used oral contraceptives since the age of 21, but may have " missed some days" a couple of months ago.
