The abdominal radiographs seen here are from the same patient, one year apart (the following year, a pen and pencil set was recovered, not the table knife that would have completed the set). A variety of foreign bodies may be swallowed, both willingly and involuntarily. Large objects may not pass the pylorus (such as these) requiring endoscopic removal. Small blunt objects may just pass through the GI tract. Sharp objects can perforate, necessitating surgery.
