Hemochromatosis, with excessive iron deposition in tissues, can occur in the heart as shown here microscopically with Prussian blue iron stain. This excessive deposition of iron leads to heart enlargement and failure similar to a cardiomyopathy, making hemochromatosis a form of "restrictive" cardiomyopathy.
