Yes, a wide variety of music is available via Peer to Peer sharing networks, and I've often been amazed at some of the rather esoteric items I've been able to find on them. And there are undoubtedly lots of people out there who want to listen to music in the comfortable conditions of their home stereo where sound quality truly can be an important consideration. It's my guess, however, that the vast majority of people downloading files aren't listening to them under optimal conditions, and much of the music that they're listening to isn't seriously affected by not being of the utmost quality. For many people 128kbps is more than good enough.
