You mean I really read them?

Elsewhere in this column I claim that there's more skimming than actual reading of blogs taking place. That's true for me as well. But perhaps that actually what we mean when we speak about reading a blog, a phrase that probably shouldn't even exist in the singular. It would seem to me that reading blogs (there, now it's a generic sort of activity) is much less the activity of having our eyes move over the words on a particular web page, but instead an organized clicking session in which we start out on one blog and then permit ourselves a pre-determined amount of time to see where things lead. Reading a blog is almost oxymoronic. We read blogs.
