A trip to North America is an expensive undertaking. Especially during summer vacation, which is the only time that the kids are free from school. Considering that my mother isn't getting any younger, it would make sense for me to make a short trip at non-peak season. After all, though we're interested in visiting with all of our North American family, my mother is the main reason for a visit.

But who wants to see me? I've offered to jump on a plane for a short visit, but my mother refuses to have me come. It's nice to feel wanted.
