Then why do I write these
columns?
I may only be able to speak for myself, but I hardly ever do. The entire
point of these columns as they've developed over the years is that by drawing
upon my own experience I can perhaps help others gain insight into their
own. And if that's the case, though the strength of these columns (if they
have any) may draw from the fact that they reflect personal experience,
the reflection of that experience in a larger social sphere must still
be firmly planted at their root.
