It's hard to know what to believe.

Today's Islam is listed as one of the more popular clubs in the Excite directory. The opening page for the club itself lists 356 members, though in the directory only 291 are listed. Four people have listed their names and e-mail addresses in the Contact List section of the site of the club. The latest message posted to the site, though very recent, is spam, an offer to win a sweepstakes by listening to music over the web. The entire past year has seen only rather minimal activity, including someone who continually posts information on Buddhism which seems to be at least a bit off topic. One club initiator writes in his introductory comments that he's new to this and that he may forget to visit the site and make changes. One gets the impression that that's precisely what happened. Another club, a celebrity fan club, lists 2150 members, yet also shows only minimal activity. This has even caused one visitor to ask whether someone is pulling some sort of joke that he doesn't understand. I've got to admit, it's a good question.
