In what direction do YOU beam?

I admit it. Even though I'm not only not a trekkie but I've hardly ever seen the show, this seemed to be a very logical title for this month's column. Beaming OUT, of course, is different than beaming UP, and the act of clicking on a link to get somewhere seems to me much more of an OUT experience.

The original phrase shows up 2,545 on an AltaVista search. About 40 of these are the title of the page, and of these perhaps four or five are used as relocation links along the lines of "this page has moved ... beam me up, scotty". Beam  me OUT also shows up, though only seven times. One clearly seems to be a mistake, a wrong quote, five are unclear as to their intent, and one seems very intentional.

Go to: Credit where credit is due, or
Go to: Beam me out, Scotty!
