A central idea? In a Boidem column? Who am I kidding? Part of the ethos of the Boidem, its very DNA, is its tangentiality. More than having a central idea, a column sort-of has a backbone that more or less holds numerous semi-related parts together. Maybe the answer to the issue of how to read a Boidem column is simply to expect things to get a bit out of hand.
