Basically, it's a feeling.
We're not really dealing with empirical evidence here. Were I able to show her
that kids bond with family traditions via the computer
screen just as well as they do by sitting on the sofa (something I'm not able
to do, but that's another issue), that wouldn't change Tzippi's gut feeling that
"photographs are things you hold in your hands". And it's not as though
she's got something against digital images. She often enjoys
photos sent via email and viewed on the computer screen. But for her, "the
real thing" is still that physical entity.
