Way out.

Somewhere in my papers and on my hard drives I've got a collection of statements by scientists who explain that as fascinating as quantum physics are, the vagaries of the quantum world don't hold up in the physical world that we tangibly experience. Because of that, they continue, any attempt to deduce truths about the physical world we inhabit, based on quantum physics, is no more than an exercise in science fiction.

I find such statements disheartening. I'd rather allow the metaphor of uncertainly to actually define our experience and understanding. But preferences aside, I've learned to accept these statements as true. Numerous others who have written fun and captivating (and lucrative) books, however, haven't done so. Frankly, even though I've learned that it's hard to take these people seriously, I'm jealous.
