Let me just tinker around with the innards of your computer here ...

It would be wonderful to find PhotoShop, or something similar, installed on any computer I visit, but there's little reason to expect that sort of thing. (Frankly, I was surprised to find it on a couple of computers I used during this trip.) But I was often in need of a simple graphic editing tool, and couldn't find even something simple on some of the computers I used. For that reason I kept a number of small applications on my disk-on-key and would request permission to install one or two of them. I would always request permission first, and was more than a bit surprised when I received it without anyone even questioning what it was that I wanted to install. It's as though they assumed that I'm a computer person who knows what he's doing, so it's easier to simply trust him than to even ask just what I want to do to their computer.
