A (consciously) missed opportunity.

For years now I've played with the idea of an entire Boidem column devoid of links. Thesaurus.com tells us that:
void means empty; devoid means empty, but empty only after something has been taken away
and that certainly would be the case. I doubt that I'm capable of writing a column of this sort without links, but with a concerted effort I should be able to whittle them out until the final product looks like one of the pages from a book that many of us remember that we once used to hold in our hands (with pages that got turned, no less).

This particular column would have been the optimal opportunity for me to realize a column of that sort. After all, what could be more appropriate for a column that examines the attraction of the recreational link, and my inability to refrain from clicking on whatever comes to mind, than a column that in its very structure eschews just that. Try as I may, however, I apparently need greater powers of concentration and stamina in order to be able to pull off such a stunt. Perhaps another time.
