Part of our culture.
In the movie Postcards from the Edge
the Meryl Streep character tells someone "instant gratification takes
too long". It's a great line, and it seems to touch a nerve in many of
us - according to a Google search, the phrase shows up 2240 times on the web
(and an additional 230 times in a slightly different, and apparently incorrect,
version: "instant gratification isn't fast enough"). And if the technology
permits it, what's so bad about instant gratification?
