The Super Nintendo Entertainment System, otherwise known as the Super NES, SNES or Super Nintendo is a 16-bit console that was produced by the Japanese corporation Nintendo from 1991 to 1993. The console was Nintendo's second console, replacing the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The console introduced advanced graphics and functions compared to other consoles at the time. The console's main competitor was Sega's Mega Drive (or Genesis).
