"לימוד הרפואה והשואה – על שום מה?"

At the dawn of the third millennium, the memory of the Holocaust is an essential component of human identity. For health professionals, it bears a distinct message. The study of Holocaust and Medicine reveals 5 domains relevant for medical education: 1. Medical ethics.  2. The conduct of doctors in impossible circumstances   3. Care of survivors and their offspring.  4. The need to be aware of and prevent abuse of power.  5. Resilience.

Description: The program for the study of the Holocaust and medicine includes education, research and documentation. Educationally it Integrates conferences, excursions, seminars, lectures, group discussions into the syllabus of the medical school.

Students have named it: “It is all about our conscience”.

Discussion: This is a most powerful way to attract the full attention of present and future physicians. It is targeting the professionalism-attitudinal domain as well as the personal side of each participant. Careful research will be needed to monitor the impact and best practices. in the study of Holocaust and Medicine within medical education.
