Research Interests

Roi Dor’s research brings together behavioral ecology and evolutionary biology to address questions regarding the evolution of traits and the role they play in the generation and maintenance of biodiversity. He is interested in trait variation, its genetic basis and the processes that generate differentiation between populations and eventually lead to speciation. His research combines hypotheses-driven experimental testing of proximate mechanisms, quantitative genetics, historical inferences and species-level comparative analysis. His research models are mostly birds but also insects.

Specific research interests are:

  • Genetic basis of behavioral, ecological and physiological traits
  • Population genetics
  • Speciation processes
  • Molecular phylogenetics
  • Evolution of communication systems
