THE RAYMOND and BEVERLY SACKLER PRIZE in the PHYSICAL SCIENCES

PHYSICS 2012

The Raymond and Beverly Sackler Prize in the Physical Sciences was established through the generosity of Dr. Raymond and Mrs. Beverly Sackler. Prizes are awarded each year alternating between Physics and Chemistry. The Sackler Prize supports dedication to science, originality and excellence, and is intended for young scientists who have made outstanding and fundamental contributions.

  • This Year, 2012, the Physics prize will be awarded for: "Observational or theoretical achievements in the study of extra-solar planets"
  • This year a total of $100,000 will be awarded to the winner(s).
  • The age limit is 40. Nominee's birth date must be after March 15, 1971.
  • The deadline for receipt of nominations is March 15, 2012.
  • The prize coordinators are Prof. Amiel Sternberg and Prof. Shimon Yankielowicz,
    Raymond and Beverly Sackler School of Physics and Astronomy. The winner will be selected by an international committee.
  • The prize will be awarded to the recipient(s), in person, during the annual session of Tel Aviv University's Board of Governors, June 7-12, 2012. .

Nominations may be submitted by:

  • Faculty of Astronomy, Chemistry or Physics departments in institutions of higher learning world wide.
  • Presidents, Rectors, Vice-Presidents, Provosts, Deans of institutions of higher learning.
  • Directors of astronomical observations or laboratories.
  • Members of the Tel Aviv University Senate, or of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
  • Sackler Prize Laureates.
  • Tel Aviv University faculty nenbers are not eligible to receive the prize.
  • Self-nominations cannot be accepted.

Applications should include:

  • nomination form
  • three letters of recommendation
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • list of publications
  • a brief description or summary of the nominee's research achievements.
