The pale linear depressed white scar-like marks seen here on the lower abdomen are striae (more formally called striae atrophicae). They can be pink to purple when they first appear. These striae can arise on the abdomen, breasts, buttocks, and thighs in association with weakening of the dermal elastic tissue. Predisposing conditions include: pregnancy, obesity, and Cushing syndrome.
