| This abdominal CT scan with contrast of the abdomen reveals decreased brightness of the liver compared with the spleen and muscle. The intrahepatic vessels filled with contrast are more prominent. This is due to fatty infiltration of the liver (steatosis), which reduces the overall density of the hepatic parenchyma. A normal liver and spleen are seen below for comparison. |
