The right kidney demonstrates cortical thinning with blunted calyces indicative of chronic reflux nephropathy that has led to dilation of the collecting system and overall atrophy. Note that there is compensatory hypertrophy of the unaffected left kidney as seen in this intravenous pyelogram (IVP).
