You obtain additional laboratory testing that includes: Factor V Leiden mutation - negative; Prothrombin G20210A mutation positive, dilute Russel viper venom assay negative; factor VIII level normal; antithrombin III level normal, protein C level normal, and protein S level normal. His plasma homocysteine level is normal.
