CASE 4: Nevus

Clinical History:

Just about everyone has at least one of these. They may be flat and pigmented, or they may be pale and nodular, but they are never very large and they hardly seem to enlarge.
  1. What is the diagnosis?
  2. These lesions are benign nevi. Each individual lesion is a nevus. In lay terms, a nevus is often called a "mole".

  3. Are these lesions premalignant?
  4. Probably not. Most melanomas arise as such. Persons with dysplastic nevi and persons with lots of nevi are at greater risk.
