The BCL-2 gene is the "anti-apoptosis" gene that, when overexpressed, prevents apoptosis, leading to slow accumulation of neoplastic cells in some leukemias (such as CLL) and lymphomas. Seen here is nuclear staining with antibody to BCL-2 in a follicular lymphoma. The irregular follicles are delineated by the positivity of the cells.
