The Maiman Institute for Proteome Research at Tel-Aviv University

The Maiman Institute for Proteome Research at Tel-Aviv University is designed for the functional analysis of genomes. Its activities are aimed at broadening our understanding of gene expression and protein function in health and disease. The proteomics study approach is based on analysis of the proteins expressed at a given time by the genome – the proteome. Proteomics is usually based on two-dimensional electrophoresis (2D) to resolve complex protein mixtures followed by mass spectrometry to identify proteins of interest.

The Maiman Institute for Proteome Research at Tel-Aviv University includes two service-laboratories for Mass Spectrometry and Electrophoresis, headed by Dr. Ayelet Sacher. The services support research involving mass analysis of proteins, organic compounds, and metabolites. The lab also provides 1D and 2D gel services for preparation and analysis of samples.

The Maiman Institute for Proteome Research, including the laboratories functions for the benefit of all the faculties at Tel-Aviv University.
