סילבוס קריאה פוליטית ב'פוליטאה'

'הפוליטאה' היא כנראה הדיאלוג המפורסם ביותר והנחקר ביותר של אפלטון. למרות זאת, גם אחרי דורת רבים של פרשנים וחוקרים, נותרה 'הפוליטאה' מרתקת, מטרידה וחידתית. מה היא אותה "מדינה בשיח (בלוגוס)" המיוסדת בדיאלוג? מה תפקידה וכיצד היא עומדת ביחס למשטרים האקטואליים של אז ושל היום?
הסמינר יעסוק בכמה סוגיות הנדונות ב'פוליטאה' כגון: תפיסת הצדק, מהות המדינה, תורת המשטרים והצנזורה על האמנות. אולם כנושא המרכזי של הסמינר תשמש המדינה האידאלית המוצגת בדיאלוג. ננסה לבדוק האם זוהי אוטופיה מופשטת או פרוגרמה פוליטית לתיקון החברה.
כמו כן, נעמוד בסמינר על הרלוונטיות של אפלטון, בעיקר על-ידי דיונים משווים בין 'הפוליטאה' וטקסטים מאוחרים יותר מן המסורת של הפילוסופיה הפוליטית.

דרישות הקורס:
א. נוכחות בשיעורים, קריאה מקדימה של חומר הלימוד (על פי הנחיות המורה) והשתתפות פעילה.
ב. הקורס יסתיים בעבודה סמינריונית או בעבודת רפראט.

המועד להגשת עבודה סמינריונית / רפראט הוא עד תאריך 12.9.10.

'The Republic' – a Political Reading

'The Republic' is probably the most famous and most studied dialogue of Plato. But after ages of commentators and interpreters it remains fascinating, perplexing and enigmatic. What is this "City in Speech", established in the dialogue? What is its roll and how it stands in relation to actual regimes, in Plato's days and in ours?
The seminar will deal with various issues discussed in 'The Republic', namely the concept of justice, the essence of the state, the theory of political regimes and the censorship of fine art. But the main subject of the seminar will be the ideal polis described in the dialogue. We will ask whether this is an abstract utopia or a political program for a rectification of society.
We will also discuss the relevancy of Plato's dialogue, mainly through comparisons with later texts of political thought.
