בסמינר נדון בנסיונו של דורקהיים לכונן סוציולוגיה מדעית בצרפת בשלהי המאה התשע עשרה כמקרה מבחן למקומם של מודלים מדעיים בכינונה של דיסציפלינה חדשה במדעי החברה , וכתאור של מאבק בשדה התרבות ברפובליקה השלישית בצרפת במפנה המאה.

Emile Durkheim: constituting scientific sociology and images of science in the Third Republic, France.

The seminar will focus on Durkheim's attempt to constitute "scientific sociology" in France at the end of the 19th century. The seminar will discuss it as a case study for the role of images of science in the founding and establishment of new disciplines in the social sciences, as well as a combat within the cultural field of the Third Republic at the turn of the century
