0627.4431  The Phonology of Paradigms
ד"ר אותי בת אלMA Seminar
From a phonological perspective, there are two types of paradigms (mainly inflectional):
a. A simplex paradigm, where the phonological alternations indicate that all the forms in the paradigm are related to the same base
b. A complex paradigm, where the phonological alternations indicate that some forms in the paradigm are related to other forms
Of course, at the case of a paradigm are morphological relations, and therefore the study of the phonology of paradigms involoves the study of phonology-morphology interface. We will read and discuss various papers concerned with the phonology of paradigms (most of which are within the framework of Optimality Theory), in search for a grammatical model of structural relations.
Requirements: class participation (!!!), a paper (a paradigm in a language of your choice), apresentation of a paper, and a presentation of your own research.
