| My seminar for the next year will be titled, "Intellectuals, Cultural Identity and Social Change in Egypt, 1882-1952". The seminar will trace the development of both luminary intellectuals and secondary intellectuals as producers of culture in Egypt of the time. A special emphasis will be placed on the interactions of intellectual developments and socio-political changes. The seminar will contextualize intellectual texts and products in the changing environments of Egyptian state and Egyptian society and culture. A good reading of Arabic texts is required. |
