It certainly seemed promising.


My guess is that I first heard about this case in May of this year. I base that guess on the fact that the first article I read about it was posted at the end of April, and it was only when searching for that article that I became aware of the fact that the verdict had been handed down in June. In other words, I'd learned about the case, it made an impression on me, and then I'd forgotten about it, before the verdict was reached. It's possible that I might have read that first article after the trial was already over, but in that case I'd probably also found a report on the end of the trial. There were, after all, many of these.
