The world's oldest rock star.

The Fugs (their name originates from Norman Mailer's The Naked and the Dead - an interesting story in itself which can be found, among other sources, in the Wikipedia), consisted basically of two poets, Ed Sanders and Tuli Kupferberg, and various side musicians. Thy were undoubtedly one of the classic unsung rock bands of the 1960s. Actually, they were beat poets who had the brilliant idea that instead of remaining poor and unknown, if they spoke/sang their poems above a rock beat they could become famous and even make a buck. Today Tuli Kupferberg is approaching 80, and is still performing, thus probably making good on his claim that he's the world's oldest rock star. As is true of almost any more-or-less cult phenomenon of the 60s, numerous sites (here, here and here should be more than enough) have information on the Fugs, both then and now.
