Still more information we didn't really need.

It was on this day, in 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia that Dr. John Pemberton brewed his first batch of what was to become Coca Cola. (The first sales of the beverage were about two months later, but I like this date because it corresponds with a date on which the Boidem gets posted.) The internet is without a doubt a wonderful source for all sorts of fascinating information about Coca Cola - more than I'd ever thought I might want. Of course many of the "facts" that we can learn about the drink aren't necessarily true, but one of the nice things about Coca Cola is that the legend is at least as interesting as the "true" history, so who really cares. Some of those facts (I won't judge whether they're true or not - and in this particular case the "true" history can often compete with the legend) can be found here, here and here. The official Coca Cola web site doesn't seem to contain an official history, and instead seems to be satisfied with simply offering us some Coca Cola folklore. In the long run, what difference does it make?
