That's certainly a combination that can make reading a blog worthwhile. MetaFilter also calls itself a Community Weblog which is not only an interesting and promising idea unto it self (they're not the only ones, but there aren't too many out there) it's also (here it comes again) a good topic for a future column.

The thread on The Sims Online seems to be more extensive, and perhaps even more interesting, than what develops around other topics, but because lots of people are introducting lots of different topics, there's pretty much something for every taste. To my mind it's what Slashdot could, or should, have become.
